Research Assistant

Seeking Research Assistant on New ISPU Research Study

ISPU is seeking an entrepreneurial research professional with experience in survey research, researching political movements, and conducting case studies on a project aimed at discovering the breadth of influence of a right-wing movement in the US as well as quantifying the views of the American public through a survey. The project will also include active dissemination to share the research findings with the general public and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience assisting with setting up systems for survey research, qualitative research and/or conducting case studies, and has the ability to engage academics and a diverse group of community leaders alike. The project would require an 18-month commitment to complete research and dissemination.

Scope of activities:

    • Work with PI to identify key sectors to include in the qualitative analysis.
    • Work with PI to refine the research methodology, research questions and interview questions in consultation with the advisors and with approval of ISPU Research Director (RD).
    • Input into a detailed timeline and understand responsibilities of team members in coordination with project manager, and ISPU RD.   
    • Under supervision of the PI and Research Project Manager, conduct qualitative data collection  and contribute towards data analysis.
    • Work with PI on survey development, survey data collection and contribute toward data analysis
    • Contribute to writing the first draft of the report from PI lead outline, summarizing the findings of the research.  
    • Be available for weekly check in meetings with the project manager at an agreed upon date and time.

Position Logistics:

    • Position Title: Research Assistant
    • Period of Performance: 18 months
    • Location: US-based, virtual
    • Classification: Part time stipend position, 10 hours/week
    • Stipend: $10,500

Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program OR Bachelor’s/Master’s degree completed.
    • Experience in qualitative community based research and/or survey research.
    • Experience setting up systems for qualitative and/or quantitative research.
    • Ability to engage academics and a diverse group of community leaders alike.
    • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and present information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner.
    • Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural, and problem-solving skills.
    • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently and operate on a flexible work schedule.
