On Tuesday, July 17 at 9 a.m., ISPU Director of Research Dalia Mogahed will speak at a congressional briefing on the Hill for new study called “WISE Up: Knowledge Ends Extremism.” Work by 72 American Muslim expert contributors is featured in the 375-page study, including work on issues related to American Muslim life, the clearly-defined differences between the peaceful teachings of Islam and the violent extremists who distort these teachings, and best practices to conduct early intervention and prevention against recruitment into violent extremist groups.
Organizers write, “WISE Up is designed to inform and educate all, and to equip those who so wish with the intellectual resources and practical know-how to enhance proactive engagement among their constituents and advocate for positive and meaningful change. Each member of Congress in attendance at this briefing (or a member of his/her office) will receive a copy of WISE Up.”
Please RSVP here if you’re interested in attending the briefing. You can read more about the report here.
